A005C015_170224JL_03370622The Swedish-Swiss cellist Karolina Öhman performs internationally with a diverse repertoire. Tours and festival appearances have taken Karolina to numerous countries across Europe and Asia. She is especially committed to the performance of contemporary music and has premiered numerous solo, chamber music and ensemble works. Karolina has appeared as a soloist with the Basel Symphony Orchestra, WDR Sinfonieorchester, Meiningen Court Orchestra, Basel Sinfonietta, Camerata Zürich, Kammerphilharmonie Graubünden and the Ensemble Namascae among others.

Being a devoted chamber musician, Karolina is a member of several ensembles. In 2008, she founded the cello and percussion duo UmeDuo, together with her sister Erika. The duo appears regularly in renowned concert halls and Festivals throughout Europe. Karolina is also a member of Trio SÆITENWIND, the Mike Svoboda Quartet, the Luzia von Wyl Ensemble, and Ensemble neuverBand, and regularly performs in duo formations with the pianist Tamriko Kordzaia, violinist Simone Roggen and the clarinetist Marco Santilli.  Karolina is the principal cellist of the Kammerphilharmonie Graubünden since 2016. She was also a member of Mondrian Ensemble for ten years.

Karolina has won several awards including the Swiss Music Prize with the Mondrian Ensemble in 2018 and the 1st prize at the prestigious Concours Nicati in Bern.

Karolina studied with Torleif Thedéen, Thomas Demenga and Thomas Grossenbacher and graduated with a soloist diploma from the Zürich University of the Arts in Switzerland.
